Lucy Gray is a ballad composed by William Wordsworth , the poet of nature . The poem marks the poet's remarkable genius of handling real , humble and rustic life .
The poem deals with the tragedy of an innocent girl named Lucy Gray . She has no companion or mate to play with . She lives with her parents on a wild moor . She is the most beautiful and innocent child ever born on the earth .
Besides being beautiful and innocence Lucy is obedient as well . One day she is ordered by her father to go to town and bring her mother back because the snow - storm is expected . The little child complies with her father's order . She takes the lantern in her hand and moves towards the town so that she can bring her mother back before the storm . She is in her way to the town when the wild storm comes before the expected time . The unfortunate child loses her way . She wanders here and there and climbs up and down the hills . She attempts to reach home but can't . The miserable parents of the child search her whole night long shouting anxious but all in vain . The following day , they find the traces of her footprints on the steep of the hill . They follow the marks one by one and reach the middle of the bridge . There are no more foot prints beyond the middle of the plank . Here the poet creates a mysterious note . The foot prints of little innocent child disappear . The circumstances are enough to convince the miserable parents that they would meet their child in Heaven , in the life of immortality . Towards the end of the poem the poet says that some people think that Lucy is still alive . Her beauty and innocence has become the part of nature . As beauty is immortal , Lucy has also become immortal . She may be seen in the moor and heard singing a solitary song . The poem reflects Wordsworth's extraordinary style ; his depiction of humble and rustic life .
نوسی اپنے والدین کی اکلوتی بیٹی تھی جو اپنے والدین کے ساتھ دور کہیں دیہی علاقے میں رہائش پذیر تھی۔اوی بہت معصوم اور رمانبردار بیٹی تھی ۔ اس کا کوئی ساتھی نہیں تھا جو اس کیساتھ کھیلے ۔ ہر طرف قدرت کی خوبصورت تھی کہیں سبزہ زار پر ہر ان کا بچہ کھیل رہا تھا پر جنگلی خرگوش لیکن وہاں قدرتی خوبصورتی کا جو شاہ کار تھا جو لوس کرے گی ۔ ایک دن اچانک موسم خراب ہو گیا آسمان پر گہرے ول حقاہو گئے دن میں رات کا گماں ہو رہا تھا ان کے دو بچے ایسالگ رہا تھا کہ چاند طلوع ہونے والا ہے تو سی کی ای ٹاؤن گئی ہو تھی ۔ ابو نے لوسی سے کہا کہ وہ لالٹین لیکر ٹاؤن جائے اور اس کو لیکر بر فانی راستوں سے لالٹین کی روشنی میں بحفاظت گھر لیکر آۓ ۔ لوی نے خوشی سے حکم کی تعمیل کی ۔ لالٹین لی اور ٹاؤن کی طرف چل دی ۔ باپ نے لکڑی باندھنے کی رسی لی اور اپنے کام میں مصروف ہو کیا ۔ نوسی کی خوشی کا کوئی ٹھکانا نہیں تھا وہ اپنے ابو کے حکم کی تعمیل کر کے بہت خوش ہو رہی تھی ۔ قسمت کی ستم ظریفی طوفان وقت سے پہلے آگیا اور برف باری شروع ہو گئی ۔ برف بر سنے سے راستہ محروم ہو گیا ۔ لوی راستہ کھو بیٹھی برف میں ؟ یں کبھی پہاڑی کے اوپر کبھی پہاڑی کے نیچے پانی چکر لگائے لیکن راستہ نہ ملا ۔ ماں جب خیر و عافیت کیساتھ گھر واپس آئی تو پتا چلا کہ نوسی تو اس کو لینے ٹاؤن گئی تھی بد قسمت والدین پریشان ہو گئے پوری رات نوسی کو پہاڑوں پر تلاش کرتے رہے زور سے آواز دی لیکن نہ تو ان کو کوئی نظر آیانہ کسی نے آواز کا جواب دیاجب بح ہوئی والدین پہاڑی پر کھڑے تھے جہاں سے دیہی علاقہ صاف نظر آرہا تھا ۔ وہ زار و قطار رونے لگے ان کو یقین ہو گیا کہ کوئی راس دنیا میں نہیں رہی ۔ والدین رونے لگے اور کہا کہ اب ہم جنت میں ملیں گے ۔ اچانک ماں کو برف میں ٹوسی کے پاؤں کے نشانات نظر آۓ۔ماں ان نشانات کے پیچھے چلی جو پہاڑوں سے نیچے کھیت تک آۓ تھے پھر وہ نشانات ان کے گھر سے ایک فرلانک دور لکڑی کے پل تک گئے تھے۔لوی کے پاؤں کے نشانات لکڑی کے پل کے درمیان تک گئے تھے اس سے آگے نہیں تھے ۔ اس سے ظاہر ہوا کہ لوسی پل سے گر کے مر گئی تھی ۔ بعض لوگوں کا خیال ہے کہ لوسی مری نہیں وہ قدرت کا حصہ تھی ابھی بھی کسی تنہا جنگل میں رہتی ہے جو آسان اور مشکل راستوں پر چلتی ہے آگے آگے جاتی ہے پیچھے مڑ کر نہیں دیکھتی وہ تنہائی کا گانا گاتی ہے جو ہوا میں وسطی جیسی آواز کی صورت میں سنا جاسکتا ہے ۔
