SUMMARY IN ENGLISH
" My Bank Account " is a humorous story written by
Stephen Leacock . The author is a professor of political science at McGill
University in Montreal , Canada . He has invented this story to amuse his
readers . The entire story revolved around the author who had never been to a
bank .When his salary had been increased to fifty dollars a month and he had no
suitable and secured place to keep it , he decided to open an account . But the
problem was that he was afraid of a bank . As he had no other option , he made
a bold attempt and entered the bank . No sooner he entered the bank he got
frightened . They very sight of clerk , furniture , money etc.frightened him
and his nervousness increased. When he didn't come up to anything he asked the
accountant that he wanted to see the manager " alone " . The manager
took the author a Pinkerton detective whom he had some secret deal . He took
him in some secret room and asked to say whatever he wanted . The manager was
very polite with him but when he came to know that the author was neither a
detective nor a rich man , he became cold . He sent him back to the accountant
. This time he considered himself a laughing stock . At the same time , he
suffered from severe depression and appeared terribly pale . Despite this he
moved on and asked the Accountant that he wanted to open an account with fifty
six dollars . After completing all the formalities he decided to draw out six
dollars for present use . He was still upset and wrote fifty - six dollars on
the cheque instead of six . He came to know this folly when the Accountant
asked him whether he wanted to draw all the money he just deposited .This time
he was too nervous to explain anything and answered in affirmative . All the
clerks were looking at him with amazement which further increased his anxiety .
Despite expressing his real expressions he showed as he had been annoyed by
someone that's why he wanted to draw all the money back . After having his
money back when he left the bank , the whole bank staff burst into laughter .
After this unfortunate incident the author decided not to take the way of any
bank throughout his life . He decided to use his pocket and socks to keep money.In
this story Stephen Leacock had presented himself as a man who lack confidence
and common sense . A confused and irrational person can't cope with the
challenge of the hour . Therefore , through this story the author wants to
teach us not to loose confidence in critical situations instead one should keep

الا مت عالی V یہ ایک مزاحیہ کہانی ہے مصنف بینک فوبیاں میں مبتلا تھا جب بھی وہ بینک جاتا تھاڈر جا تا تھا کبھی چیوں کو دیکھ کر کبھی وہاں کے گوں کو دیکھ کر سبھی وہاں ارد گرد کا ماحول اس کو خوف وہراس میں ملا کر دیتا ہے ایک دن مصنف بہت خوش تھا اس کی تنخواہ بڑھ گئی تھی 51 ڈالر تک وہ ہر ماہ بینک میں رکھنا چاہتا تھا ۔ اس وقت اس کے پاس 56 ڈالر کی رقم تھی چھ ڈالر اس کی جیب خرچ تھی وہ سیدھا بینک کی طرف ما گا وہاں سیدھا اکاؤنٹنٹ کے میز پر گیا جو ایک لمبا چوڑا آدمی تھا اس کو دیکھ کر وہ ڈر گیا اور کہا کہ وہ مینیجر Manager سے ملنا چاہتا ہے ۔ سے اس بات کا علم نہیں تھا کہ وہاں کوئی بھی اسکا اکاؤنٹ نہیں کھل سکتا ۔ چنانچہ اس نے مسٹر مونتگومری جو کہ اکاؤنٹنٹ تھا سے کہا کہ اسے ' بیچر کے ساتھ اکیلے میں ملتا ہے ۔ مینیجر ڈر گیا اور اسے پرائیوٹ کمرے میں لیکر گیا ۔ مینیجر نے اس سے پوچھا کہ آپ کسی جاسوسی ادارے نی Pinkerton Detective سے آۓ ہیں مصنف نے کہا نہیں ۔ وہ نہ تو کسی جاسوسی ادارے سے آیا ہے نہ وہ کسی مخالف پارٹی سے ۔ وہ اپنا اکاؤنٹ کھلوانا چاہتا ہے جہاں وہ اپنی ساری جمع پر بھی رکھے گا ۔ مینیجر خوش ہو گیا ۔ اس نے سوچا مصنف کوئی بہت امیر آدمی ہے جو اکھوں ڈالر بینک میں رکھوائے گا لیکن اسے اس وقت غصہ آیا کہ مصنف صرف پچاس ڈالر جمع کر واۓ گا ۔ مینیجر نے اکاؤنٹنٹ کو آواز دی کہ اس کا اکاؤنٹ کھولا جاۓ ۔ مصنف اس قدر ھر ایا ہوا تھا کہ وہ باہر جانے کے بجائے غلطی سے تجوری کا دروازہ کھول کر اس میں گھس گیا میجر نے ہنستے ہنستے اس کو باہر کا دروازہ دکھایا ۔ جب اس کا اکاؤنٹ کھل گیا اس نے 56 ڈالر اس میں جمع کر واۓ ۔ دراصل وہ کچھ ڈالر اپنی جیپ خرج رکھنا بھول گیا ۔ وہ چیک کے ذریے چھ ڈالر نکلوانا چاہ رہا تھا لیکن گھبراہٹ میں 56 لکھ بیٹا ۔ کلرک حیران ہو گئے کے ابھی پیسے رکھوائے تھے اور ابھی نکلوا رہا ہے ۔ ملکرک نے پو چھا جناب آپ اپنی پوری رقم نکلوار ہے ہیں جو اب میں مصنف نے اثبات میں سر ہلایا جس پر سب ہنسنے لگے ۔ اپنے پیسے لیکر وہ بینک سے باہر نکل آیا اب مصنف اپنے پیسے اپنے جرابوں میں چاندی کے ڈالر کی صورت میں رکھتا ہے ۔
