SUMMARY IN ENGLISH
In the story Brooker T. Washington presents an account of a
significant event his life . He used to work in a coal mine where he happened
to know about a very good school in Virginia . This school was far better than
the one in his own town . The name this school was the Hampton Normal and
Agricultural Institute in Virginia . Hearing the these people appreciate it so much he at once
made up his mind to go to that schoo Ans : although he knew nothing about its
location . In the autumn of 1872 with a reluctan permission from his mother he
started for Hampton with very little money and a smal bag with few clothes . As
his mother was very ill , the parting became very sad . He walked and begged
rides and in a number of days reached a large city Richmond about eighty wo
miles away from Hampton . He was completely out of money , hungry , exhausted
but not discouraged . Having no place to go he crept under a raised platform on
a pavement .
Next day he got - up refreshed but hungry and
started to look for some work as he was very hungry . He saw a cargo ship
unloading pig - iron . The kind - hearted captain of the ship gave him work and
he finally earned his breakfast for the day . Due to his good work the captain
asked him to continue work . He still slept under the sidewalk and finally
managed to save money to reach Hampton . The sight of the school building
seemed to him a reward for the hardship he faced . But here he could not make a
favourable impression on his teacher as he had been without proper food , rest
, bath and change of clothing . The teacher did not refuse admittance neither
did she decide in favour . She kept giving admission to other students which
troubled him all the more . He desperately wanted a chance to prove his worth
and he got it when the teacher finally asked him to clean the recitation room .
He swept and dusted the room several times as he knew that his future depended
upon it . The teacher came and inspected the room minutely and could not find a
bit of dirt . She finally admitted him to the school . He was extremely happy
and all through his life considered the cleaning of that room the best
examination he ever passed .
اس کہانی میں مصنف اپنی زندگی کے اہم واقعات کے بارے میں ہمیں بتاتا ہے کس طرح وہ مشکلات سے نبرد آزما ہوا ۔ وہ کوئلے بان میں کام کر تا تھا جہاں اسے ایک اچھے اسکول کا علم ہوا ۔ یہ اسکول اس کے قصبے کے اسکولوں سے بہت اچھ اتھا ۔ اس نے عزم کیا کہ وہ سکول میں جائیگا ۔ حتی کہ اسے اس کول کے ایڈریس کا بھی علم نہیں تھا کہ وہ در جینیا میں کس جگہ پر ہے ۔1872 ء میں اپنی ماں سے بڑی کل سے اجازت لینے کے بعد وہ اسکول کی طرف روانہ ہو گیا ۔ اس کے پاس بہت رقم تھی اور چھوٹے سے بیگ میں کچھ کپڑے وہ اپنی ماں ے جدا ہو کر بہت اداس ہوا کیونکہ اس کی ماں پیار تھی ۔ وہ پیدل چلتارہا اور لوگوں سے مفت کی سواریاں لیتے ہوۓ ہیمپٹن Hampton ے پای 82 میل دور پہنچ گیا اب اس کے پاس رقم ختم ہو چکی تھی اور وہ بھو کا تھا ۔ مکمل تھکا ہوا تھا لیکن اس نے ہمت نہیں ہاری ۔ رات کو لیٹ فارم پر سویا ۔ صبح جب بیدار ہوا وہ تازہ دم تھالیکن بھو کا تھا ۔ اس نے دیکھا کہ ایک مال بردار جہاز سے سامان اتارا جارہا ہے جہاز کے اپنانے ترس کھا کر اسکو کام دے دیا ۔ اس نے اس طرح ناشتے کی رقم حاصل کر لی ۔ اس کا اچھا کام دیکھ کر کپتان نے اس کو کام جاری رکھنے ا کہا ۔ اس طرح رقم کما کر بالا آخر وہ Hampton ہیمپٹن پہنچ گیا ۔ اسکول کی عمارت دیکھ کر وہ بہت خوش ہوا ۔ وہاں استانی نے اس کو کمرہ مال کرنے کا کہا جو اس نے بہترین انداز میں صاف کیا جب استانی نے آکر دیکھا کہ کمرہ مکمل طور پر صاف ہے کہیں پر بھی کوئی گردوغبار ہیں ۔ استانی نے اسکو اسکول میں داخلہ دے دیا ۔ مصنف آج بھی اس کمرے کی صفائی کو اپنی زندگی کا بہترین امتحان قرار دیتا ہے جس کی اس نے کامیابی حاصل کی تھی ۔
